There are some who think that the living world shows
evidence of being directly designed by an Intelligence.
Can Simlife say anything about this? Yes. I designed a
non-evolving organism (called Niguanad) that I deliberately made
superior to another evolving one (called Niguanae). In the short-term the
non-evolving organism did better, but in the long-term the evolving
organism did much better as the accompanying population graph shows. Why
is this? A purely designed organism makes sense in an unchanging
world. In a changing world it is much better to create through
evolution. The game file is available here for those who like to
experiment directly rather than rely on purely verbal
arguments. |
